Westfield Shopping Centres underwent a major upgrade to their car park internal surfaces which included new signage, line-marking, safety upgrades, ticketing and car parking guidance systems.
Craftwork was contracted to undertake the painting component of the upgrade to both the Chatswood & Hornsby sites.
Both works were undertaken simultaneously over a 4 month period starting from early August 2008 with a practical completion date of 1st December 2008. There was no extension’s available so all works had to be completed prior to the due date.
The Painters undertook the works during out of hours to minimise disruption to customers, staff and car park vehicle traffic. Painting included spray application to the car park concrete ceiling surfaces using airless spray gun equipment, feature colours painting application to the concrete columns and wall surfaces to identify car park locations. Safety Yellow paints where applied to the curbing areas to minimise trip hazards and all steelwork surfaces received specialised coatings systems to increase abrasive resistance to normal daily wear & tear.
During the program Craftwork utilised mechanical access equipment to reach the higher ceiling surfaces in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act. All car park areas where left in a clean and tidy manner upon completion of each night’s works for the following days trade
